Berkline names Smith as CFO

Morristown, Tenn. — Upholstery producer Berkline BenchCraft Holding has hired Steven M. Smith as chief financial officer, replacing Mark A. Roberts.

Smith previously was a financial executive at MTD Products, an Ohio-based consumer products company.

Roberts, a managing director of Alvarez & Marsal, assumed the CFO duties last July and remains with the company in a senior advisory capacity. Alvarez & Marsal is assisting Berkline BenchCraft in an executive management reorganization.

Bill Wittenberg, president and CEO of Berkline BenchCraft, said Smith has experience in consumer products, manufacturing, distribution and retail. "He also brings an international expertise at a time when our industry is undergoing accelerated change as more of our operations are being conducted in a global environment," said Wittenberg.
