Crisp promoted to global VP post at Valdese

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 18, 2007

Industry veteran Joel Crisp has been promoted to the new position of vice president of global operations at fabric supplier Valdese Weavers.

Crisp, previously director of global operations, will continue to manage the Valdese International Product, or VIP, brand, in which products are designed and developed in the company's North Carolina facilities, then sourced offshore.

Mike Shelton, president and CEO, said Crisp "developed the VIP brand, conceived and executed a strategy for VIP and has grown the business exponentially.

"Valdese Weavers is now an important factor in the marketplace for sourced products and services under the VIP brand, with exciting continued growth potential. We have high expectations for the future of the VIP brand because of the leadership of Joel Crisp," said Shelton.

Crisp said the company will add resources to provide more services and expand its VIP product lines.

Within the VIP brand, Crisp oversees the Valdese Weavers sourced fabric stocking program for distribution to the company's customers in the United States, as well as designing and developing products to be sourced by customers who utilize cut-and-sew capabilities abroad.

Crisp, a 30-year textile industry veteran, came to Valdese Weavers in May 2005 after working as vice president of global sourcing with the Robert Allen Group.
