New management team in place at Gabberts

Edina, Minn. — Gabberts, which unveiled a redesigned store here last month, also has remade its organization in the past 18 months by adding several executives.
Taking over as CEO in 2005 was Michael Knight, the founder and principal of turnaround specialist Alliance Management, which Gabberts first took on in January 2005 to help right the retailer's struggling business.
Gabberts said Knight has returned the organization to profitability, and spearheaded the $5 million renovation of the Edina store. He has extensive experience in management and in analyzing how organizations work and how to improve them.
Earlier this year, Gabberts promoted Rebecca Miller to president. She has taken on some day-to-day duties previously handled by Chairman Jim Gabbert.
With more than 25 years in management, sales and consulting positions, Miller joined the company in January 2006 as vice president and general manager. Gabbert credits her with leading the retailer "through an ambitious transformation, including overseeing the development of the new Gabberts store."
Miller previously was president and co-founder of consulting firm Imprint Strategies Group. Earlier, she was a sales executive at retailer Target Corp. and at Jostens, which sells products including school rings and yearbook.
Michael Rabatin joined Gabberts in May 2006 as director of the design studio, with responsibility for a team of about 24 designers. Previously, he spent 14 years in senior management at Polo Ralph Lauren in New York, where his duties included store development, creative services, home design, antiques and fine art. He also has worked in advertising positions at publishers.
Linda Hofflander joined the retailer in October 2005 as director of marketing. She has more than 20 years of marketing and business development experience, including as founding partner of marketing and consulting firm Hofflander & Associates.
Most recently, Kim Burak has joined Gabberts as chief financial officer.
