By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 18, 2007
Gardner, Mass. — The International Furniture Transportation and Logistics Council will hold its 47th annual International Conference of Furniture Transportation and Logistics Managers May 2–4 at Lago Mar Resort and Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
This year's theme is "How your company can take the greatest possible advantage of the ongoing transition in the transportation, warehousing and delivery of new furniture, spurred on by surging imports."
The keynote speaker will be Steven Ryan, regional vice president of MOL Lines. He'll talk about how the growing furniture trade from the Far East is evolving, from an ocean carrier's perspective.
Ken Miller, managing director of the Specialized Furniture Carriers Assn., will moderate a panel of his group's members discussing changes in operations to deal with imports.
The tentative program includes sessions on Far East import problems; home delivery service; the railroad intermodal service; and imported furniture damage and liability.
The conference will conclude with an open forum led by moderator Ray Bohman, managing director of IFTLC, discussing any subject not covered during the event.
The registration fee for the conference is $559 and includes admission to meetings and social functions including one luncheon, four refreshment breaks, three receptions and a Thursday evening beachfront Hawaiian luau.
For more information, contact Bohman at (508) 945-2272.
