AmericasMart: Atlanta shows drew 100,000

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 18, 2007

The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings and International Area Rug markets drew over 100,000 visitors during their Jan. 9 to 21 runs, said organizer AmericasMart.

Officials said the attendance set a record, with buyers coming from all 50 states and 80 countries. The consecutive January shows typically attract 93,000 to 95,000 buyers and other visitors, said Keri Hanenkrat Arroll, an AmericasMart spokeswoman.

She attributed the strong attendance to the variety of home furnishings, rugs, home accents, gifts and linens offered in 2,000 permanent showrooms and 4,500 temporary booths. Combined, the shows occupied about 4.2 million square feet of space.

Arroll also cited strong exhibitor marketing campaigns and aggressive appointment schedules.

"A lot of people are stepping up in terms of merchandising, display and the quality of product," she said.
