LAVAL, Quebec — Full-line furniture importer Monarch Specialties has named 24-year industry veteran Ed Farquharson as national sales manager.
He joined Monarch on Nov. 1 and will be based in Toronto.
"Ed's experience in upholstery manufacturing, full-line importing and mattress manufacturing will be a great benefit to Monarch's programs," David Berger, president and owner of Monarch, said in a statement.
In his new role, Farquharson will be responsible for overseeing the sales force in Canada, developing products and implementing new sales strategies. He will be working with the company's existing sales management team, which includes Lenny Samsonovith, national accounts manager, and Mario Barbieri, regional accounts manager.
Farquharson was most recently executive vice president of sales for the Toronto-based Rev Sleep. Earlier, he was vice president of sales for importer Eztia and for the now-defunct upholstery specialist Distinctive Furniture.
Monarch has also announced that it will build an 80,000-square-foot addition on to its existing 200,000 square feet of warehouse space at its head office here. The project is expected to be completed in the spring.
