City of Hope celebrates Spirit of Life honorees

HIGH POINT - The City of Hope's National Home Furnishings chapter held its 2014 Kickoff Reception during the High Point Market in the Casana/Palliser showroom.
     City of Hope celebrated its Spirit of Life honorees, the Baer Family, Baer's Furniture, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Alan Cole of Hooker Furniture, who will receive the award in the spring.
     Kevin O'Connor, Spirit of Life dinner chair, said, "Alan Cole of Hooker Furniture and Bobby Baer and the Baer family are two of the most respected individuals, leaders and organizations in our industry. They have been friends for many years and both of their families have been touched by cancer. Thus, it is very fitting that we honor them together next spring. Their passion and devotion to the industry and fighting this disease will make the evening of April 6 a special event."

     Also, George Tsai and Jason Liu of Fairmont Designs will be the honore es at the City of Hope's 23rd annual West Cost Golf & Tennis Tournament, set for June 9 at the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club, Coto de Caza, Calif.
     Rick Powell, co-chair of the tournament, said Tsai and Liu "represent being leaders in our furniture industry and all of us on our committee are grateful for their partnership."
    The life of Roger Murray, longtime Simmons Bedding executive and the past president of the National Home Furnishings Industry Chapter for City of Hope, was also celebrated at the event. Murray, who died in June, was a staunch supporter of City of Hope.
