RED DEER, Alberta — Regional bedding specialist Mattress Mattress will ramp up its Matts 4 Kids program to aid families devastated by the recent catastrophic floods in Calgary and other parts of southern Alberta.
"Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the recent flooding in Alberta," Mattress Mattress Vice President Lori Fecho said in a statement. "To help flood kids in need, Mattress Mattress has added an additional 300 brand new kids mattresses to its Matts 4 Kids 2013 program."
To qualify for a new twin-size mattress, parents of flood victim children can apply to any local not-for-profit organization, which if it approves the request will email the request and details to email@example.com.
The 16-unit sleep specialist started the Matts 4 Kids program in 2004 when shelters and other support groups stopped accepting used mattresses because of bedbug infestations and other hygiene concerns. Since then, Mattress Mattress has donated an average of 200 mattresses annually to a variety of community organizations, such as women's shelters and children's camps, in southern Alberta.
