IFDA Conference will focus on sustainability

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 26, 2007

This year's International Furnishings & Design Assn. Conference and Industry Forum will focus on the current environmental buzz word, sustainability.

With the theme, "Today's Vision, Tomorrow's Reality," the event is set for May 3-5 at the Westin Buckhead Hotel here.

A pioneer of the green living movement, Josh Dorfman, will be the event's honorary chairman. He is the CEO of Vivavi, a business he founded in 2003 to develop forward-thinking ventures designed to enable modern green living.

"We are delighted that Josh Dorfman has agreed to be the honorary chairman of the cutting-edge 2007 IFDA Conference, which will provide members and industry guests with the most current and cogent information on this important topic," said IFDA Conference Chairman Shirley Ebert. "Sustainability will impact the entire design and furnishings arena in the years and decades ahead."

Through its retail arm, Vivavi sells contemporary eco-friendly furniture, home furnishings and decor, created by using innovative, sustainable materials.

A Vivavi publication, the "Modern Green Living Home Directory," and the Web site ModernGreenLiving.com help consumers find newly built green residences and green home professionals in the United States and Canada. They also offer information on how to design, build, remodel or furnish a green home.

Dorfman also hosts "The Lazy Environmentalist," a radio talk show broadcast on Sirius Satellite and Lime Radio. It features stylish and innovative green trends, eco-friendly products and services along with interviews with the designers, entrepreneurs and visionaries behind them.

His book, "The Lazy Environmentalist: Your Guide to Easy, Stylish Green Living," will be released in June.

IFDA is inviting design professionals and other members of the industry to the conference and forum. For information and registration, look on the Web at www.ifda.com.
