Dominique Mercier, chairman, Groupe Grange

Chaponost, France — Dominique Mercier, chairman of home furnishings manufacturer and retailer Groupe Grange here and president of Grange USA, has died in a skiing accident in Italy. He was 49.
He joined Grange in Japan in 1982, and began the U.S. business for the company in 1985. He returned to Grange in Lyon, France, in 1991 to become general director of Grange SA
He is survived by his companion of 15 years, his parents and a brother.
A New York memorial service is planned, although a date has not been announced.
