New 3-D online design tool offered by ViewIT

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 26, 2007

Demonstrations and information about www.3Dream.net, which offers three-dimensional design tools online, are available at market here this week.

Retailers and designers can customize designs with the tool, according to client floor plans, using both branded and generic 3-D models of furniture, lighting, paints and accessories.

ViewIT Technologies, formerly Masterplan Magnetics, is launching the online tool. The company is offering users a chance to win a free one-year subscription to the site after March 26 by logging on to the site to become eligible.

ViewIT co-founders Ross and Donna Bartlett are demonstrating 3Dream in the Designer Resource Center, on the first floor of the International Home Furnishings Center's Hamilton Wing, across from the Internet Café, from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday of market.

Information also will be available in the Interior Design Society space in Market Suites, first floor; and at Furniture Library kiosks.

3Dream representatives will attend WithIt's Networking Tent Event in the Century Courtyard at Market Square on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

ViewIT Technologies says 3Dream is the only tool of its kind for residential interior designers. It was beta tested last year under the name DesignLinxOnline.

"This is an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop application that allows you to design and tweak with a click of the mouse," said Ross Bartlett, co-founder and CEO of ViewIT Technologies.

"The fact that your clients can 'walk through' their new rooms is so powerful. It means you get faster buy-in and an immediate emotional response. Consumers buy more when you've reduced the risk of making a 'design mistake'," said Bartlett.

Jim Gabbert, chairman of Edina, Minn.-based retailer Gabberts, will press the "on" button at a Go Live event at 11 a.m. Monday in the Designer Resource Center.

"The truth is, most people have difficulty visualizing what a piece of furniture or a design will look like in reality," said Gabbert. "3Dream gives customers a way to see what their design plans will actually look like in their homes. Then, people are more likely to purchase an entire room setting instead of just a couple of pieces.

"I think the ease with which you can experiment, changing fabrics and colors, helps people realize their goal to create homes that are a personal expression of their own style," Gabbert said.
