Attendance up in Retailer Resource Center during Vegas market

LAS VEGAS — Attendance at the Las Vegas Market's Retailer Resource Center was up 17% from a year ago, according to the Western Home Furnishings Assn., which operates the facility.

Compared with the August market, the winter attendance jumped 42%, the WHFA said.

Buyers use the RRC as a pit stop and a learning center, attending seminars hosted throughout market, and also to visit nearly 40 vendors of business services. This winter, they also stopped by for a breakfast of Chef Tony's waffles (over 800 served, thanks to sponsor Surya Rugs) and in the afternoons for hot toddies courtesy of the California Furniture Manufacturers Assn.

"The amount of buyers visiting the RRC was amazing and it was one of the best markets for the association and participating vendors in years," said WHFA Executive Director Sharron Bradley. "Buyers visited the RRC to see new business tools to use in their stores, attend first-rate education for their business and to eat a waffle, or two! The overall vibe that was felt in the RRC was one of excitement and energy - for buyers and our vendors."

The seminar room, sponsored by Furniture Wizard Software, was often packed, the WHFA said. Among the popular sessions were ones focusing on retail social media marketing, QR codes, mattress sales training, and the skill of asking questions to get great sales results.

The RRC, located in World Market Center C-496, will be open again during the summer Las Vegas Market, July 30-Aug. 3.
