Franklin opening new Miss. facility
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 25, 2007
Houston, Miss. — Motion upholstery producer Franklin will open a 35,000-square-foot facility here this month to house and consolidate raw material inventory for recliner and motion production.
CEO Hassell Franklin said the additional space is adjacent to Franklin's existing motion upholstery plant. The company's 75-acre complex has more than 1 million square feet of production, distribution and office space.
The consolidation of raw materials, primarily offshore components, will create space for two additional production lines, Franklin said.
The 37-year-old company added 200 employees to its workforce last year and currently employs more than 1,300.
Franklin said the company has been able to grow because of its ability to compete in a global market by consistently producing a quality product at a value-added price with the ability to ship quickly, along with continuous improvement and execution of the company's business model.
