AWFS seeks wood experts to judge intros

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 25, 2007

The Assn. of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers is seeking woodworking industry executives with extensive industry background and knowledge to serve as judges for the Sequoia New Product Awards presented at the biennial AWFS Fair in Las Vegas, July 18–21.

Judges must be representative of fair attendees and have a significant purchasing influence within their organizations.

The voting panel will review more than 100 new products submitted by exhibitor companies for the awards and will be given complimentary registration and "preferred" access to exhibits before the show opening. Products are judged on environmental achievement, innovative technology, ergonomics, productivity and safety.

"I was a judge for the first Sequoia New Product Awards in 2003 and enjoyed it so much that I asked to take part again in 2005 at the inaugural AWFS Vegas show," said Steve Briggs Sr., owner of CSI Millwork in Kerrville, Texas. "Being a judge gave me an opportunity to see new products and find new suppliers that I would have never known about had I not had the privilege to serve as a judge. It was a tremendous experience."

The judging panel will be recognized and winners of the Sequoia will receive their awards at an industry gala event at the Las Vegas Hilton at 6:30 p.m. July 19.

For more information or to apply to be a judge, contact Angelo Gangone, AWFS vice president of trade shows, at (800) 946-2937 or angelo@awfs.org. For more information about AWFS, visit www.awfs.org or www.awfsfair.org.
