Pulaski showing new face

High Point — Pulaski Furniture President Don Mitchell promises that retailers will see a revitalized company at this week's market with new products, new brand identity, and a dramatic new showroom.
Mitchell hired showroom designer Barbara Garrison, an industry veteran with over 30 years experience, to make over the company's 40,000-square-foot space in the International Home Furnishings Center.
"We committed a tremendous amount of time and resources to showcase the new furniture collections we have designed," Mitchell said. "The transformation will be clearly evident from the first moment our customers walk through our new entrance on the Wrenn side of the building. We now have a very fresh and focused merchandising — and branding — story to tell, one that reflects a more modernized Pulaski."
Pulaski and SLF, formerly Samuel Lawrence Furniture, merged Sept. 1 and are now part of parent company Home Meridian International, whose other divisions are Solutions, which serves mass merchants, and Creations, a new juvenile division.
Mitchell was hired in October as president of Pulaski.
Given her assignment, Garrison said the renovators "knocked down half of the showroom's walls and started over." The space now features classic architecture and "fresh, vibrant colors."
She added that retailers can expect to find new merchandising ideas when they visit the Pulaski showroom, including an antique store environment that showcases the accent furnishings line.
"It's a great way for retailers to display these items, which will help increase their add-on sales. Consumers want these types of accent items — or jewel pieces — to create a look that's all their own," she said.
Pulaski's licensed lines and brands include the Build-A-Bear Workshop Home Collection of youth furniture; Casa Cristina, from the Latin media star Cristina Saralegui; Accentrics, an accent program; Keepsakes curios; and Keepsakes Home, a recently launched series of promotional bedrooms.
George Revington, president and CEO of Home Meridian, said his team's business model seeks to create companies that are modern, nimble and responsive to customers.
"Don and his management team have done a tremendous job transforming Pulaski in a short amount of time. Pulaski's customers will discover an exciting array of new products showcased in an impressive showroom," said Revington.
