Frinier will launch third Sunbrella fabrics collection

Los Angeles — Designer Richard Frinier is launching his third collection of Sunbrella performance fabrics for the spring season, aimed at furniture manufacturers and designers.
His latest collection features 10 patterns, including:
-
Sakura, a botanical pattern created using Frinier's popular Sasian construction and paying homage to the Japanese cherry blossom tree of the same name. Hand drawn by the designer and engineered by Sunbrella into a jacquard correlate pattern, Sakura complements all Sasian fabrics. Sakura colorways include Parchment, Papyrus, Green Tea, Moss, Mandarin, Cinnabar, Abaca and Turquoise.
-
Ming, inspired by ancient Chinese geometric patterns originally used as borders in fretwork architecture or as decorative bands for garments. This classic design also is a correlate to Frinier's Sasian fabrics. Colorways are the same as for Sakura.
-
Coconut Grove and Plantation, correlates inspired by an aerial view of a coconut grove. Colors include King, Coconut, Date and Sago.
-
Sisalana, a bouclé construction with an ultra soft hand. Its textural design brings a strong sense of dimension, while its simplicity makes it ideal for inside and out. Frinier's interpretation of the classic basket-weave pattern will be available in Flax, Ginger, Spice, Coco, Hemp and Sage.
-
Areca, a hand-drawn pattern that features the natural appearance of palm tree fronds found in tropical and humid locales. Colors include Rice, Ginger, Spice, Birch, Hemp, Sage and Coffee.
-
Fiji, Kiribati, Polynesia and Samoa, four patterns inspired by the Oceania region of the South Pacific, sharing a depth of texture in colorways that are exotic and natural. Fiji is geometric, Kiribati is a classic ethnic pattern, Polynesia emulates traditional thatched matting, and Samoa evokes an abstract version of hand-woven baskets and mats in blended colorways.
A designer in the home industries for over 30 years, Frinier was creative director and chief creative officer of Brown Jordan for more than 20 years. He has operated his own creative consultancy since 2002 and works with his partner and wife, Catherine Frinier.
Their work includes licensed and co-branded collections of furniture, accessories, lighting and textile designs with Century Furniture, Sunbrella, Currey & Co., Dedon and others.
