New Hamburg, Ontario — Magnussen Home Furnishings will begin shipping case goods from a new Vietnam distribution center beginning May 7, part of its quick-ship supply chain efforts.
The 225,000-square-foot, four-level facility, located within two hours of the company's factories in southern Vietnam, initially will carry 13 groups and will expand to 25 groups by September, said CEO Richard Magnussen.
From the new Vietnam warehouse, the company will be able to ship to the West Coast in seven days and get product to retailers in 31 to 45 days, Magnussen said.
The program mirrors the company's shipping of occasional and accent furniture from its four-level, 400,000-square-foot facility in Anaheim, Calif.
The company refers to its inventory management as demand planning rather than forecasting, Mannussen said.
The method is more sophisticated and uses a variety of inputs, he said.
