Vanguard's merchandising VP Dixon named president

Conover, N.C. — High-end upholstery producer and case good importer Vanguard Furniture has named Mitchell Dixon president.
He has been the company's vice president of merchandising for six years.
"Dixon has played an integral part in the growth and success of Vanguard in directing the merchandising and creative areas of our business," said Chairman and CEO John Bray. "He will continue to direct these areas as we make plans for growing all aspects of our business."
Birger Rasmussen, who previously held the title of president, will continue in his current duties and assume the title of vice chairman.
Before joining Vanguard, Dixon was at Baker Furniture as national sales manager for Baker and its Milling Road line, and as director of upholstery merchandising.
He also has held merchandising posts with Drexel Heritage and Lineage.
