Powell taps Giordano

Culver City, Calif. — Industry veteran Steve Giordano has joined importer Powell Co. as chief operating officer.

Giordano most recently held the same position at retailer Kane's Furniture, Pinellas Park, Fla. Before that, he was senior vice president of logistics for Federated Department Stores and was named the company's leader of the year for 2002.

At Powell, he replaces Jim Goergen, who left two months ago, and reports to company President Bill Benton.

"Steve and I worked together in our past careers, and I'm very excited to have him join the company," said Benton. "He will bring a new energy and focus to the customer service, fulfillment and logistics at Powell."

Benton said Giordano has worked in both retail and wholesale, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the industry.
