DOTI opens franchise stores in Ariz., Calif., Mass.

Barrington, Ill. — Home furnishings and interior design source Designs of the Interior, or DOTI, has opened three stores, in Arizona, California and Massachusetts.
In Newton, Mass., a 4,500-square-foot DOTI store has opened employing seven interior designers. Kathleen Novak is the owner and John Arambages is manager of the metro Boston unit.
A 5,000-square-foot store has debuted in Woodland Hills, Calif., next to the Westfield shopping area north of Los Angeles. Karen Shoener is the store owner and Steve Cohen is store manager. The unit has nine interior design consultants.
DOTI also has opened a 3,500-square-foot store in central Scottsdale, Ariz. Mike Bishop and Elaine Bishop are the owners, and David Caro is store manager. Six interior design consultants are on staff.
Designs of The Interior, founded as a small interior design studio in Barrington in 1983, now has 28 stores nationwide.
The majority of the chain's business is comprised of custom and special-order upholstery, case goods, window treatments, rugs, lighting and accessories from around the world.
