Robertson is Seabrook VP

Jeff Linville -- Furniture Today, April 30, 2007

Steve Robertson, formerly with Southport Furniture, has joined manufacturer Seabrook Classics here as vice president. Seabrook recently acquired the Southport line.

Robertson, a 27-year industry veteran, was president of and a partner in Southport, an Indiana-based importer of Mexican and Brazilian furniture in cottage styling. Previously, he was president and CEO of Keller Mfg., leaving in 2003. He then led an investment group that bought Southport in May 2004.

"I am excited about the merging of the two companies and my new role with Seabrook Classics," said Robertson. "As equity partner in Seabrook, I will concentrate on developing distribution and increasing revenue for both brands as VP of sales."

Seabrook is known for its high-end coastal cottage line, while Southport's imports hit a sharper price point. Robertson said a queen bed for Southport retails for about $680, dresser for $750 and a nightstand at $300.

Seabrook President and CEO Greg Bosiack said Southport's warehousing is moving from Indiana to Beaufort, S.C. While the line will continue to be made in Latin America, Seabrook will finish raw goods at its plant here, allowing the company to offer 10 finish colors on every piece.

At the spring High Point Market, Seabrook showed Southport's Biddeford Pool, Spring Valley and Spinnaker Point lines in the new finishes.
