Show hosts Indonesia pavilion

Shenzhen, China — The Shenzhen furniture show has focused mainly on Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturers, but the latest event featured a 10,000-square-foot pavilion devoted to Indonesian makers of indoor and outdoor furniture.
The Indonesian Pavilion showcased some two dozen companies.
That included East Java-based Fokus Gallery Furniture, which sells teak bedroom, dining room and occasional. About 80% of its line is sold in Indonesia, with the rest going to Australia, Holland and Malaysia. The company decided to show here to boost its exports.
Pro Design, also of East Java, showed a line of mostly medium-density fiberboard and particleboard bedroom, home office and home entertainment furniture. Exports represent about 80% of its business, with about 10% going to the United States and half going to Europe.
It too was using the show as a platform to boost exports, particularly to the United States.
Other pavilion exhibitors showed products using such elements as natural or synthetic woven wicker and rattan.
The pavilion concept is not new among Asian furniture shows. For instance, the International Furniture Fair Singapore has sections devoted to manufacturers from Indonesia, Vietnam, China and the Philippines. This gives the show a broad appeal to many international buyers.
In the future, Shenzhen may designate similar display areas for the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, among others. With such a diversity of product and companies, officials hope to draw more international buyers to the show.
