Larry Brooks, Parkview Furniture owner

Rancho Dominquez, Calif. — Larry Brooks, who was the owner of former mid-priced upholstery producer Parkview Furniture, has died at the age of 79.
Brooks got into the industry in 1956 when he worked for a small manufacturer. He started Parkview in 1969 and operated it until 1994. The company manufactured upholstered sofas, loveseats and chairs and had about 250 employees, selling a number of Top 100 retailers as well as small and large independents west of the Rockies.
He was active in the California Furniture Manufacturers Assn., and was the City of Hope Man of the Year in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, daughter and two grandchildren.
