Midwest Furniture Club seminar set for Wednesday

Will focus on industry's future, social media

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — The Midwest Furniture Club is holding a seminar here Wednesday that will address the future of the home furnishings industry.

The seminar, Forum for the Future, will feature speakers Peter Tourtellot of Anderson Bauman Tourtellot Vos and Leslie Carothers of The Kaleidoscope Partnership.

Tourtellot will discuss his firm's recent report, "The American Furniture Industry: What Will It Take to Survive," as well as the state of the furniture business in 2010. Carothers, a blogger for Furniture/Today, will address how social media have permanently changed the way consumers gather information and make decisions.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, with the seminar getting under way at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served and a cash bar will be open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Stonegate Conference Center, 2401 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates, Ill.

The seminar is free to Midwest Furniture Club members and their retail guests. The fee for non-retail guests invited by club members is $20. Sales reps who are not members of the Midwest club must join to attend.
