About the ranking
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, May 21, 2007
High Point — Furniture/Today's ranking of the Top 25 Sources for the U.S. Market ranks companies according to 2006 furniture shipments to the United States. Sources on the list must sell into the U.S. market, regardless of whether they have manufacturing, assembling operations or corporate offices in the U.S.
Non-furniture and non-manufacturing revenues, such as investment income and retail revenues, are excluded for purposes of the ranking. Contract furniture revenues are included in the figures, because many companies do not report them separately from residential revenues. In addition, sales of certain decorative accessories are reported in notes when available.
A total revenue figure is included in the notes for those companies that have revenues outside these categories and for those that sell outside the United States.
All figures are for the 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2006 and 2005, unless otherwise indicated.
For comparison of total 2006 and 2005 shipments of the Top 25, shipments for Home Meridian International were assumed flat.
The Top 25 Sources for the U.S. Market was compiled by News Editor Jay McIntosh, Senior Research Specialist Dana French and Database Coordinator Cynthia Myers.
