Showtime gears up

High Point — The International Textile Market Assn. will present the 34th semiannual Showtime fabric market for the home furnishings industry here from noon Sunday, June 3, through 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 6.
ITMA members will have signs in their showrooms identifying themselves.
"Look for the ITMA Showtime logo," said John Kearns, president of ITMA. "Please support our members, whose financial support makes Showtime possible. Official ITMA members will have proof of their membership displayed in their booth."
Kearns said that in addition to Showtime, ITMA members support the annual Virginia Jackson Design Competition, the publication of the ITMA directory and magazine, internship partnerships, and the annual Concept to Consumer Tour that hosts dozens of design students and their professors for tours of factories and design studios.
The Studio at Showtime, which debuted at the last show in December, will return with more than a dozen textile design studios exhibiting original artwork and antique documents to be used for product development. The Studio will be open each day of the show in the Suites at Market Square.
"The debut of Studio was very well received," said Catherine Morsell, director of ITMA. "The studios themselves were pleased with the amount of business conducted, especially considering it was a first-time event.
"We hope that buyers will allow extra time to visit this show-within-a-show and get comfortable shopping the venue with ITMA members. It's a wonderful opportunity for mills to work with their customers on exclusive designs," Morsell said.
In addition, ITMA will present its second Sample Bank, which allows marketgoers to see and handle fabric samples debuting at the show and acquaint them with companies they may not know.
Also at Showtime, Cotton Inc. will present a Home Color and Trends Forecast for fall and winter 2008. The presentations, which are free but require advance reservations, will be offered at 9 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 at the String & Splinter Club. Showtime attendees can call Lori Williams at (919) 678-2346, or e-mail lwilliams@cottoninc.com to make a reservation.
Shuttle service is offered between buyer parking lots and show buildings, operating continuously throughout the event.
