Kane's Furniture to open first Naples, Fla., store

NAPLES, Fla. — Kane's Furniture will open its first store here on U.S. Highway 41 early next year featuring an updated design.
The 65,000-square-foot showroom, the retailer's 18th in Florida, is being built from the ground up along a furniture row that also features Baer's, City Furniture and an Ashley Furniture HomeStore.
Irwin Novack, CEO of the Pinellas Park, Fla.-based Top 100 company, declined to disclose the investment or projected sales, but said, "We feel it will be one of our better markets."
Kane's hired Dayton, Ohio-based Interbrand Design Forum to handle the design work, which includes an updated modern layout with a similar flow to Kane's existing stores but with new architectural design elements.
Key suppliers include La-Z-Boy, Man Wah, Magnussen Home, Fairmont Designs, Natuzzi, IdeaIltalia, AICO and Sealy and Serta in bedding.
Kane's is also in the process of converting its three Savon Furniture stores in Fort Myers, Port Charlotte and Sarasota, Fla., to the Kane's name. Both the conversions and the Naples store project are expected to be completed shortly after the first of the year.
Novack said business has been good this year for the Florida retailer, estimating that same-store sales will be up about 15% this year over 2012. Kane's is No. 44 on Furniture/Today's Top 100 with estimated furniture, bedding and accessories sales last year of $142 million.
