Bedding Intros for High Point Market
Staff Staff -- Furniture Today, October 10, 2013
Several bedding introductions are scheduled for the upcoming High Point Market. Key trends include an accent on accessories as new mattress protectors, toppers and sheets offer new options for bedding retailers.
Bedding producers also continue to add gel to various layers of their sleep sets. Encased coils will remain on the ascent and are featured in a number of configurations as producers seek new levels of comfort.
Below are the various companies and the products they are debuting.
BOYD SPECIALTY SLEEP
Returning to the High Point Market after a nine-year hiatus to introduce major new bedding and sleep accessory programs under the Broyhill and Thomasville brands, which Boyd licensed in April.
Virtually all of the new branded bed collections will be available for immediate shipment.
Boyd also is presenting a program that offers retailers free floor samples, lighted headboard displays and top-of-bed treatments for the new Thomasville and Broyhill products.
Boyd will show a seven-model Broyhill Sensura collection of gel and memory foam beds to retail from $399 to $1,499. The specialty line is designed to fill a void in the industry's gel/memory foam offerings with branded beds that have patented features, quality components and standout aesthetics. Also being shown is a new Broyhill pillow program that features memory foam, gel memory foam and solid gel layers, plus Broyhill 2-, 3- and 4-inch toppers with tri-zoned and perforated gel memory foam layers.
Under the high-end Thomasville brand, Boyd will present two new latex programs: the Thomasville Natural Flex Ultra and Natural Flex Supreme collections, to retail from $999 to $3,999. Both latex lines use patented designs and components, as well as unusual knit fabrics and treatments. New Thomasville Natural Flex sleep accessories include a Talalay latex pillow and two latex toppers at $399 and $699.
Boyd also has four new Thomasville Synchrony air beds available with either a two- or six-chamber core design for retailer flexibility. The beds include varying layers of high density poly, memory and gel memory foams. Synchrony models, retailing from $1,399 to $3,999, come with both auto-fill and memory features activated with a hand-held control.
Finally, Boyd is bringing to market a new 10-inch Responda-Flex memory foam model at a $399 value price point; a contemporary, all-steel black and brushed nickel platform bed at $299, plus two new inflatable occasional beds with inset pumps, each at $199.
Cool Flex line includes three beds, Plush, Luxury Plush and Ultra Plush, with new feels, a new aesthetic and a supporting marketing and POP campaign focused on the contemporary look of the line. Company touts the line as "the next generation of natural latex mattresses." It uses a number of cooling features, including Airvent fabric technology and Cool Breeze gel.

Those upgrades, coupled with a major reduction in wholesale prices, have sparked strong sales, officials said.
Introducing its first hybrid bedding line, the Smart Series, which combines an innerspring system with a top layer of gel or gel-infused latex. The first model has a two-inch layer of gel, while the middle model has a three-inch layer of gel. The top model has a three-inch layer of gel-infused latex. The innerspring system is an 804 encased coil system with edge-to-edge steel support. Retails range from $1,199 to $1,399.
Company is also creating a Latex Showcase display area in its showroom. Among the models shown there are the two beds in its Latex Collection, the Platinum, a two-sided latex mattress, and a one-sided model, the Gold. Each of those 10-inch mattresses use Dunlop latex, medium firm latex and super soft latex.
The Hotel Resort collection is modeled after one of the most successful beds in the hotel industry and inspired by the company's 40 years' experience supplying sleeping comfort and support to hotels and resorts worldwide, officials said.
Ranging in price from $999 to $1,599 in queen, the new Hotel Resort line offers a different sleep solution in each of its five beds. The three hybrid and two all-foam models use Jamison's exclusive high performance, seven-inch Hotel Resort foam core. Each hybrid model also features a new micro-coil layer, a smaller version of the company's Palladian Smart Coil unit introduced in April.
Varying combinations of premium soft foams, high-density and convoluted foams, latex and silk blend polyester layers differentiate the feel of each Hotel Resort bed. Fabrics include quilted stretch knits in nautical blue and pale teal that feature three different fleur-de-lis patterns.
A new top-of-bed package for the line features framed headboards showing enlarged, high-res photos of resorts around the world.
Jamison also will introduce a top-of-the-line Arctic bed for its popular Gel Comfort specialty line. At $1,999 in queen, the new 10-inch Arctic mattress, intended for use on a power base, features the Hotel Resort foam core, the company's JGel gel visco foam, a solid gel middle zone plus new "zonal perforation" throughout to maximize air circulation.
The Arctic's components are glued together and encased in a non-quilted, zippered cover. The blue, teal and white stretch knit mimics the ebb and flow of the ocean, the company said.
Consumer Products Group plans "A Little Something Extra" event for the company's new showroom.

In addition, visitors will be able to participate in showroom games for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including iPad Minis, Ruth's Chris Steak House $100 gift cards and more.
Clean Shield mattress protectors use Crypton Super Fabric, an easy-to-clean, plastic-free product that protects mattresses against spills, stains, dust mites, allergens and liquids without sacrificing breathability, the company said.
The Clean Shield mattress protectors use a fabric that contains no laminated vinyl backing, which means the fabric is soft, quiet and highly breathable, allowing for a "super soft" mattress protector that is impenetrable by moisture, the company said.
Also introducing the C-010 Adjustable Bed Base, which offers an affordable, lightweight adjustable base solution for the bedroom. The bed looks like a box spring and is more than 30% lighter than conventional adjustable bed bases. The C-010 includes head-up support at the touch of a button. This Comfort Series bed is upholstered in microsuede fabric with color choices designed to complement almost any décor or color palette. The ultra-quiet motor supports a maximum weight capacity of 600 pounds, but the bed's lightweight design is easy to move and allows it to fit on a standard bed frame, with a center support required for full and queen sizes, the company said.
MALOUF FINE LINENS
Introducing full top-of-bed line.
Bamboo sheets are breathable and have temperature-regulating qualities. These sheets are antibacterial and resistant to odors. The deep pockets combined with Malouf's Right-Fit elastic ensures the fully elasticized sheets will fit and stay on any mattress, the company says.
The Bed in a Bag is a bedding essentials kit designed for in-store promotions. The set consists of two Gelled Microfiber pillows, microfiber sheets, and a down-alternative comforter.
The down-alternative Gelled Microfiber pillows have all the benefits of down without the sharp quills, inconsistent fill, and allergens. The brushed microfiber sheets are softer and more durable than most cotton. A down-alternative comforter completes the set with gel coated microfibers and a soft polyester shell, the company said.
Hotel Collection comes with a duvet cover. The percale weave produces a crisp, breathable fabric. A duvet set matches the sheets for a clean look. A colored hem complements the classic white for a relaxed and soothing feel. The deep pockets combined with Malouf's Right-Fit elastic ensures the fully elasticized sheet will fit and stay on any mattress, the company said.
The Gel Dough Memory Foam + Z-Gel pillow offers a dual gel approach to combat heat. The Liquid Z-Gel lies on top of the pillow for a sleeping surface that will capture and dissipate body heat for a cooler night's sleep. The memory foam is also infused with Z-Gel for a combination that offers an optimal thermal experience. The unique Gel Dough memory formula creates a softer, cooler, "doughier" memory foam, the company said.
Isolust is a line of mattress toppers. It includes four different mattress topper technologies to add an extra level of comfort to any mattress or preserve the life of an existing mattress. The molded foam is better able to conform to the body and cushion the natural pressure points of the shoulders and hips to remove sleeping pains and naturally align the spine, according to the company.
The two-inch Gel Topper is one of the most popular Isolust products. Infused with gel beads, the cooler sleeping surface combats the heat memory foam naturally retains to make for a better night's rest. Protecting the topper is a super-soft bamboo cover. The cover is hypoallergenic and mildew proof, and the bamboo's pores make the material breathable for a cooler sleeping temperature. The cover is removable for laundering, helping to create a healthy sleeping environment.
Introducing what it says is its most luxurious mattress line to date, the Prestige collection. The all-latex series recreates the plushest of feels of beds made from horse hair, cotton and wool. With quilted Talalay latex in the top panel and graphite-infused latex inside, the mattresses are extremely plush, long lasting, and naturally temperature regulating because of the mineral's properties, the company says.
New top model in the line is the 13-inch Tuileries, retailing for $12,000, which has an all-graphite infused Talalay latex foundation.
There are four other models, two with 11-inch profiles and two with 13-inch profiles.

To help celebrate its 75th Diamond Anniversary, the producer is offering market attendees a $499 queen special buy that is part of the ComfortCare line, which features a 675-encased coil design and the company's exclusive Marvelous Middle design.
