DAYTON, Ohio - Morris Home Furnishings has donated $15,000 to five community organizations, representing a portion of sales in connection with the grand opening of its Morris Home Center in Florence, Ky.
Customers who made a purchase from July 5 to Aug. 31 at the store were able to choose which group they wanted to receive the donation.
Recipients included the Brighton Center, the Cincinnati Children's Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul, the American Heart Assn. and the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Care.
"Our company has been making homes great for 65 years in Ohio and northern Kentucky. We are excited to assist these important community organizations from our successful grand opening in Florence," said Larry Klaben, president and CEO of the Dayton-based retailer.
The 100,000-square-foot Morris Home Center includes five stores under one roof.
A donation ceremony was held for Brighton Center, St. Vincent de Paul and Cincinnati Children's Hospital, with each group receiving a check from Morris Home Center General Manager Tonja Rucker. Executives of the agencies thanked the store for its support.
