VERONA, Italy — The 2012 edition of Abitare il Tempo furniture show is planned for Oct. 21-23 at the Verona Fiere fairground here.

The 27-year-old event continues the path organizers took last year to sharpen its focus on design and innovation within the industry.

"Show attendees will still be able to see many of the latest product lines from some of the best manufacturers, but in addition, the show will now offer opportunities to learn about new product research and innovation, design ideas, marketing tools, entrepreneurship tips, product distribution methods, and much more," said Antonio Larosa of Phoenix-based Larosa Design, who is helping to market the event. "In short, the show has been ‘redesigned' to cover 100% of the business aspects of design."

The show will have about 300 exhibitors showcasing new products and services in roughly 400,000 square feet spanning five halls at the Verona Fiere facility. This represents a 50% increase in space and a 20% increase in exhibitors from last year's event.

The show added space to allow for more areas devoted to "innovative design projects," Larosa said.

About 90% of the exhibitors are from Italy and the rest are from other parts of Europe. "The focus is on companies that are well organized and prepared to export all over the world," Larosa said.

He added that that in the past, 60% of the attendees have been from Europe and 40% have come from other parts of the world including the U.S.

In addition to the exhibits, Larosa said, the show will have more than 40 free conferences and seminars for distributors, retailers and designers.
