Fairfield, N.J. — De Leo Textiles has retained industry veteran Cathy Smith as a long-term consultant in design and merchandising, to help the company achieve its goal of becoming design-oriented.
Smith most recently was vice president of merchandising for Weiman/Preview Furniture, and earlier was director of textiles and customer service for Lazar Inds.
At De Leo, she will be based in High Point and will work with Craig DeLeo, CEO and treasurer, and Kets, the company's Europe-based fabric supplier.
"Our goal is to aggressively develop an increasingly stylish and design-oriented fabric line, and Cathy's significant and ongoing consulting relationship with De Leo Textiles will result in a line that will better meet the needs of our customers," said DeLeo.
Smith said she "will be meeting with many key customers, in conjunction with our sales reps, and seeking their input."
