Baker, Knapp & Tubbs promotes Melvin

Will direct product development

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, July 9, 2007

CHICAGO — Baker Knapp & Tubbs has promoted Shaun Melvin to director of product development.

Melvin joined the home furnishings division of Baker parent Kohler in 2003 as lead case goods designer. He previously had worked as a design consultant to Thomasville Furniture and was manager of product development at HBF.

In his new role, Melvin will be responsible for directing the design and development of Baker product. He will report to Kevin Ward, president of Baker Knapp & Tubbs, which includes Baker Furniture, Baker stores and Baker Knapp & Tubbs showrooms.

“During Melvin’s tenure as lead designer, he was instrumental in developing the collection by independent designers: Thomas Pheasant, Bill Sofield, Jacques Garcia and Laura Kirar,” said Ward. Melvin also designed the latest Baker collection, Lexicon, introduced at the spring High Point Market.
