Tournament raises $900K for City of Hope

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, July 8, 2007

More than 500 members of the home furnishings industry took part in the 16th annual West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament last month to benefit City of Hope.

After a day on the greens and courts of Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club, attendees honored the achievements and contributions of four executives from manufacturer Guildcraft of California: Sidney Blitz, Larry Quilling, Arthur Fink and Robert "Bobby" Papazian.

The event raised $900,000 to help support the lifesaving research, treatment and education programs at City of Hope. Since its inception, the West Coast Golf and Tennis Tournament has raised close to $5 million for the institution.

Created more than 40 years ago by a group of industry leaders who wanted to help fund the search for a cure for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, City of Hope's National Home Furnishings Industry chapter has grown to include representatives from all facets of the industry. To date, the group has raised more than $40 million for City of Hope.
