Retailer Jerome's promotes Goodman to president, CEO

San Diego — Lee Goodman has been promoted to president and CEO of Jerome's Furniture here, succeeding Jerry Navarra as president of the five-store Top 100 company.
Goodman, who joined the company in December 2005, had been chief operating officer and CEO for the past year. Jerry Navarra continues as chairman and company spokesman.
In addition, Ann Navarra remains vice president of finance at the family-owned business, while third-generation family members Mark Navarra and Jim Navarra will join the board and continue in their positions in operations and marketing, respectively.
Before joining Jerome's, Goodman was COO and a minority stakeholder in another Top 100 company, Manchester, Conn.-based Bob's Discount Furniture.
Ann Navarra said Goodman "has done such a terrific job ... and really proven himself that he can be president. This was a natural succession for us. We've been working toward this goal and we're very happy we've achieved it."
She added that a new chief operating officer from within the company will be named eventually.
"The Navarra family believes theses changes will strengthen our management team and will support the long-term success of the company. The Jerome's management team will continue our commitment to the sustained health and development of our company," the retailer said in a memo to its employees.
Ranked No. 77 on Furniture/Today's Top 100, Jerome's did an estimated $89.5 million in sales last year.
