The Brick introduces Mattel-licensed youth bedroom

Barbie, Hot Wheels goods made by DeFehr

EDMONTON, Alberta — The Brick has entered into an alliance with toy giant Mattel Canada to launch of a collection of juvenile bedroom furniture with playful themes.

Available this month at all 116 Brick stores in Canada, and online at www.thebrick.com, the collection features two bedrooms for boys with a Hot Wheels motif and two with a Barbie theme for girls.

The collection is made in Canada by case goods specialist DeFehr Furniture under license from Mattel. “These groups have been developed with fun, safety, durability and function in mind,” the retailer said.

“We are delighted to be the only national retailer in Canada with Mattel for Barbie and Hot Wheels bedroom sets,” said Kim Yost, president and CEO at The Brick. “This represents a full year of development and we are thrilled to introduce these unique styles to the Canadian consumers.”
 
The collection is designed to appeal to children ages three and older, with complete beds starting at C$499. The line has its own space on The Brick’s Web site and a national flyer was published to support the launch.

“Mattel is excited about our partnership with The Brick and launching a fun and exciting furniture programs,” added Sandi Ricci, licensing manager for Mattel consumer products. “Children will love their rooms and customizing their Barbie or Hot Wheels room with the decal packages that come with each bedroom.”
