Scoperta count about even with '06

Milan, Italy — The annual Scoperta fabric show here in May had about the same number of visitors as the 2006 event, but organizers said the new Fiera Milano venue has raised the show's international profile.
There was significant growth in the number of visitors from Russia, Australia and emerging markets such as Ukraine and Croatia. First-time countries represented included Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, Moldova, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
Bill Davis, director of the show, said that "while visitor numbers were the same as 2006 (about 3,200), it shows that we are reaching out to the new markets where there is a growing demand. These markets, as well as the established countries, are now a key focus for us and we will continue to target them as part of our 2008 campaign.
"This was our second year at the Fiera Milano, which has heightened the awareness of Scoperta, and I firmly believe that our audience will grow as visitors continue to realize the ease of traveling between Milan and Cernobbio (site of the annual Proposte fabric event)," he said.
The next Scoperta is set for May 6–9, 2008.
