Beaston leaving as John Thomas president

Mata, Sprinkles direct casual dining source; Beaston to join another company

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, August 21, 2007

HIGH POINT — Davis Beaston is resigning as president of casual dining source John Thomas Furniture, and CEO Jorge Mata of parent company Whitewood Inds. has taken over direction of the division.

Beaston said he will be joining another company and expects to make an announcement soon.

He has led John Thomas Furniture since 2000, first as vice president of sales and since 2006 as president. He successfully hired a sales team, managed product development and strengthened awareness of the brand, the company said.

“As a company, we fully appreciate the contributions Davis afforded our growth,” said Mata, who called Beaston a longtime friend.

Mata said he and Bryan Sprinkles, sales and marketing manager for John Thomas Furniture, will direct and promote the brand, which he said is “positioned for growth.”

Whitewood Inds.’ other divisions include Whitewood Ready-To-Finish, Whitewood Masterfinish and International Concepts. The company employs 150 people in its North Carolina manufacturing, warehousing, office and showroom operations.
