Hickory Springs Mfg.
Conover, N.C. — Plastic Technology Inc., a division of components supplier Hickory Springs Mfg., has hired John Godfrey as national sales and marketing manager.
He brings a diverse sales management background to PTI in a variety of industries, including industrial equipment, bedding, HVAC/consumables, packaging/distribution and retail.
Westlake USA
High Point — Westlake USA, an importer of residential upholstery fabrics here, has named Beatrice Macias its West Coast sales representative.
Macias, who is based in Los Angeles and reports to Charlie Bowers, vice president of sales, was previously director of sales for Villa Nova Décor Fabric, and prior to that was West Coast sales manager for Merrimac Textiles.
Her retail experience includes furniture buying posts at Angeles Furniture and Central Furniture, both in Los Angeles.
Tom Himes, a principal of Westlake, said, "Beatrice brings to our organization both West Coast and national experience in upholstery textiles sales and merchandising, as well as retail experience in Southern California."
Managers
Ikea
Conshohocken, Pa. — Michael la Cour has been named store manager for the Ikea unit set to open this fall in Orlando, Fla.
A native of Denmark, he was store manager, sales and district manager, and purchasing manager for several retailers in Denmark and Germany.
He joined Ikea in 2000 and led the purchasing of supplies for production of Ikea home furnishings in Indonesia for four years.
Until recently, la Cour was in Vietnam as the deputy manager responsible for procuring Ikea product suppliers from throughout Southeast Asia.
"Michael's international experience, plus his familiarity with Ikea product, has prepared him for managing our store in Orlando," said Pernille Lopez, North American president for the Top 100 chain.
Leather Italia USA
Leland, N.C. — Leather upholstery resource Leather Italia USA here has hired Becky Howard as manager of the data entry department. She reports to Gail Thomas, office manager.
Howard previously worked at Murrows Furniture in Wilmington, N.C., where she spent 17 years in the customer service department.
Designers
Richloom Fabrics Group
New York — Fabric designer Sarah Surace has joined Richloom Fabrics Group in the new post of senior designer in the furniture division.
She previously was a master stylist at Quaker Fabric, working on the its upper-end Whitaker line.
At Richloom, Surace will focus on design of better goods, bringing her expertise in woven constructions to the company's design team.
She reports to Lisa Ayers, Richloom's design director of furniture fabrics.
