HIGH POINT — Exhibitors in the Hamilton Wrenn Design District are inviting marketgoers to mix, mingle and enjoy extended shopping hours during a new Tuesday Uptown celebration at the High Point Market. The event is set from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Music, food and beverages will be offered in a number of market buildings and showrooms in the district, which caters to a high-end clientele.
“The Hamilton Wrenn area is home to the highest concentration of high design in the market,” said Lisa Shankle of Hamilton Properties. “The Tuesday Uptown event is something of a progressive cocktail party — a chance for marketgoers to relax, have a drink and a bite to eat as they explore the many fabulous showrooms in the area.”
Visitors to the 200 North Hamilton building will be served wine and hors d’oeuvres on every floor and can listen to a market favorite, The Cookie Band. Wine and food also will be available next door at 320/330 North Hamilton, where the Wally West jazz trio will perform.
Other Tuesday Uptown hosts include Yorkshire House, Hekman, Tomlinson/Erwin-Lambeth and Directional, Stanford Furniture, Garcia Designer Collections, Chelsea House, Arthur Brett, Invincible (a division of Samuelson Furniture), Payne Street Imports, Galerias Chippendale, The Platt Collection, Ardley Hall, W. King Ambler, Emerson et Cie, JK Gallery and Harden Furniture.
Another Hamilton Wrenn exhibitor, Frederick Cooper Lamps, will host a series of designer workshops with Alexander Julian, Larry Laslo and Mario Buatta. The showroom is at 200 North Hamilton, on the third floor of South Court.
“We are delighted to bring this trio of noted designers to our showroom,” said Christopher Mumford, CEO of Frederick Cooper Lamps. “The small-group format creates an opportunity for up-close interaction with each designer.”
Workshops will start at 3 p.m. each day, with Julian presenting on Monday, Laslo on Tuesday and Buatta on Wednesday. Space is limited.
Exhibitors at 200 North Hamilton and 320/330 North Hamilton also will celebrate City of Hope night from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, serving beverages and snacks and accepting donations for the medical research and treatment charity. Other events in the Hamilton Wrenn area include:
-
Tomlinson/Erwin-Lambeth & Directional will serve wine and cheese daily during market, from 4 to 6 p.m.
-
Chelsea House will serve heavy hors d’oeuvres and spirits each day.
-
