Carpenter's Isotonic ErgoSmart contains moving foam nodules
Staff Staff -- Furniture Today, December 13, 2012
Carpenter’s new Isotonic ErgoSmart line features foam nodules that move in four directions for additional comfort, the company says.
The company is using the new technology to develop an assortment of mattress toppers with the foam nodules, designed to provide a range of support and comfort no matter the movement or position of the sleeper.
The Isotonic ErgoSmart, the product brand name for the new technology, was launched at the New York Home Fashions Market this fall, officials said. The reaction was so strong that Carpenter is expecting a coast-to-coast retail presence for the new line when it is fully rolled out in 2013.
"ErgoSmart is the future of sleep technology" said Dan Schecter, senior vice president of consumer products at Carpenter. "We were able to create a line of toppers that respond to the wide variety of movements and positions of the body, resists sheer forces and features Channel Air Ventilation. It is light years ahead of other sleep technologies."
Carpenter has invested in research and development at its Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, which it says is the largest and most technologically advanced laboratory for comfort cushioning products in the world.
The Channel Air Ventilation feature in the assortment of toppers will disperse body heat, keeping the toppers cool. The toppers are made with foam formulated with IsoFresh, a new chemistry that is an odor neutralizing system, the company said.
