BALDWYN, Miss. — Industry veteran Hugh Hargett has joined Hancock Fabrics as senior vice president of wholesale trade, a new position for the fabric retailer, which is launching a wholesale division.
Hargett will develop the new division and build a commissioned sales force to target furniture manufacturers, top-of-the-bed, drapery manufacturers and independent retail fabric stores.
Hancock’s wholesale line also will include occasional tables, chests, wall art, lamps and other home accents.
Most recently, Hargett was a sales representative for fabric suppliers Microfibres and Blumenthal. Earlier he was vice president of sales at United Furniture Inds., formerly Comfort Furniture.
At Hancock Fabrics, Hargett reports to CEO Jane Aggers.
Hancock, a fabric retail operation with more than 260 stores across the country, has been in business for 50 years. The company, founded in Tupelo, Miss., has a 650,000-square-foot warehouse, distribution and office facility here.
Hargett said he expects Hancock to have a presence at the next Showtime fabric market in High Point, Dec. 2-5.
