Albuquerque, N.M. — Top 100 chain American Home has named Kenton Van Harten president and CEO to succeed Lee Blaugrund, who moves to vice chairman.
Van Harten has been a member of American Home's board for two years and is a partner in private equity investment firm Hancock, Park & Associates, which has owned a majority stake in American Home since 2005.
He also is president and CEO of exercise fitness specialty retailer Fitness Holdings International, which operates 120 stores nationwide under the Omni Fitness Equipment and Busy Body Home Fitness brands.
His earlier management experience included a stint at outdoor furniture source Brown Jordan International.
"As incoming CEO of American Home, I'm excited to work with the management team, and I feel strongly about the long-term success of the company," said Van Harten.
As vice chairman, Blaugrund will continue to provide strategic and tactical guidance to American and will work with Van Harten and the board, the company said. Blaugrund, a member of the founding family, has been with the company since 1979 and has been president since the early 1980s.
American Home operates six stores in New Mexico and six stores in Arizona.
