American Leather

Showplace, fifth floor

The company is introducing 10 modern contemporary pieces from designers Rick Lee, John Mascheroni, Michael Wolk, Rob Jones and David Westendorf. Highlights include a modern chair from Mascheroni that incorporates curves on a tight, bended square back. The Boutique collection, focused on modern classic luxury looks in leather and fabric, gains a traditional entry from Jones.

  • The Potomac collection, inspired by American antiques, includes a sofa, loveseat, chair, ottoman and accent chair in rich, cabernet leather.

  • Leather is being added to the Young Classics collection, in American Federal style. The new group includes a sofa, loveseat, chair, ottoman and accent chairs with a signature C-scroll motif on the wood and trim and nailhead accents.

A new hair-on-hide accent chair (No. 9235-LL) pairs a two-tone brindle cover in a random design inside the chair back with a pure aniline leather in a deeply embossed paisley design. Hand staining accentuates the delicate pattern. Protective topcoat application.

  • J. Neal settee (No. 513) features an intricately carved imported frame with signature hand-rubbed J. Neal wood finish. Moore & Giles leather combines with Italian fabric and two-inch fringe. Plush down seating and pillows with brass nailhead trim and a leather gimp treatment, $2,500.

  • J. Neal Executive Swivel Chair (No. 511), an intricately carved imported frame with hand-rubbed J. Neal wood finish. Leather Trends cover, $1,300.

Marketing programs: Continuing its emphasis on custom options on all product offerings, as well as its own finely tailored looks. Committed to domestic production, all products are manufactured in Claremont, N.C., with three- to four-week turnaround on orders.

Natuzzi Americas

Company is adding several models and leathers across all brands, including a modular frame, Fashion, that is configured to suit loft lifestyles and intimate environments. In all, Natuzzi is introducing 20 stationary, motion and sectional models for both its Natuzzi Living (offshore) and Italsofa (promotional) lines. Italsofa adds three new leathers, while Natuzzi Living gains six.

Palatial Furniture

The Sonoma shelter sofa is dressed in full aniline leather with contrasting welts on the bolsters. Features include a tufted back, eight-way hand-tied construction and blend-down bench seat cushion. Offered in a choice of 75 leathers, $1,899.

New stationary sofas address contemporary and urban styling and are geared to space-sensitive condo/loft dwellers as well as great room enthusiasts. More than 50 product introductions and 100 fabrics and leathers will bow.

  • Urban styled offerings with sinuous spring suspension include Montano (No. 77348), a smartly styled two-over-two for $999, and Octave (No. 77315), $899.

  • Granger (No. 77417), an armless urban look on raised legs, has webbing suspension, $899.

Robinson & Robinson/Leathertrend

LeatherTrend continues to round out its good-better-best story with its Classics, LeatherTrend, Premium (feather-down seating) and Artisano (hand-finished leathers) lines. Assorted seating groups, as well as additional leather articles, debut across all upholstery categories.

Expanded Hudson and Urban collections bring contemporary styling to small-scale/apartment environments:

  • The Urban collection features the scaled back Barlow leather chair (No. HUD4057) at $599, and the Mulberry chair (No. HUD4014), with contrast leather welting.

  • The Hudson group includes 86-inch Gramercy sofa (No. HUD1003), a three-over-three frame with contemporary track arm, semi-attached back cushions and block legs. Sofa, $1,299; loveseat, $1,119; chair, $849. Chinese-based, Scandinavian-owned upholstery maker adds value-oriented leather, fabric and mixed media seating groups. Features include kiln-dried, heavy-duty pinewood frames; corner-blocked, finger joint frame base; and high-density, high- resilience foam core seating wrapped in polyfiber.

  • Milano, 90-inch transitional seating group, $799.

  • New "slouch" category with subtle motion functionality on contemporary styled sofas, loveseats and chairs. The motion is undetectable when the piece is closed, so the integrity of the style is not compromised, according to the company. Highlights include Cristal, $1,599.

  • Jonathan, a versatile modern motion sofa-sleeper in semi-aniline leather and chrome frame, $5,000. This frame relies on a simple mechanism of rotating metal bars — resembling seagull-type wings — that allows for the armrest to convert to a series of positions of movement, and ultimately a bed. Ecological polyurethane foam upholstery.

Soft Line/Calia America

Spectra Home

Commerce & Design 6-J

Showing in High Point for the first time following its Las Vegas debut, this contemporary leather upholstery resource has teamed up with TheraDesign to create the Tranquility collection. The collection incorporates TheraDesign's "far infrared" heat technology into motion seating, executive desk chairs and a leather bench with customized shiatsu massage functions. According to the companies, "far infrared heat" is used to improve and maintain body health. In its furniture application, the technology incorporates natural jade stone with patented "far infrared heat" technology to transmit therapeutic heat to the user's desired temperature. Leather upholstery in casual and contemporary styles is featured. Spectra's signature line includes five frames from designer John Mascheroni and a sectional mixing leather and peel cane. All products are manufactured in China.

This occasional resource is bringing out a leather-inspired program with a series of accent chairs covered in bycast or "leather touch" faux covers, as well as an accent chair in snakeskin vinyl.
