High Point — The Carolinas chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Assn. is sponsoring several events at this week's market here. All visiting IFDA members and friends are invited to participate.
All week, the chapter is hosting a hospitality space in the Café on Steele at 200 Steele, where visitors can relax and learn more about IFDA, a professional organization with members in all areas of furnishings and design.
The chapter is co-sponsoring two design luncheons along with the International Home Furnishings Center.
On Tuesday, Oct. 2, author and designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, who designed the Metropolitan Home Collection of furniture for Shermag, will present "Emotional Rooms: Inspirations for Personal Design."
On Wednesday, Oct. 3, celebrity designer and HGTV personality Kenneth Brown will discuss "Getting in Touch with Your Own Internal Celebrity."
Both programs will be held at noon in Ballroom B, IHFC Club Level, Green Wing. The luncheons are $15 each and reservations are required by calling (336) 888-3751 or e-mailing akelley@ihfc.com.
Also on Wednesday, Carolinas chapter member Lisa Jenkins, an account executive with Sherwin Williams, will present "Historic Preservation Colors and New Urbanism Trends" from 2 to 4 p.m. at the IHFC, High Point Rooms ABC. For information, call (800) 888-9510, extension 6115.
Thursday, Oct. 4, at 8:30 a.m., the Café on Steele will host an IFDA breakfast. The cost is $10 and reservations may be made by calling (336) 885-5266.
The Carolinas chapter holds monthly meetings and offers informative programs including industry speakers, showroom tours and factory and studio visits.
