AmericasMart expansion will boost furniture
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 21, 2007
Atlanta — A 1.5 million-square-foot expansion of AmericasMart Building Two here, which is scheduled to open in late 2008, will create additional home furnishings showroom space in Building One, according to mart officials.
Officials said designer-oriented furniture collections now on the 10th floor of Building One, as well as garden items now on floors 14 and 15, will move to Building Two once the expansion is finished.
That will free up more than 250,000 square feet of space for additional furniture showrooms. The Building Two expansion will be completed in late 2008 and the new showrooms should be ready for the January 2009 gift and home furnishings market.
When the Building One exhibitors from floors 10, 14 and 15 relocate, that building will be devoted entirely to home furnishings and area rug showrooms.
Once the expansion is completed, the AmericasMart campus will have about 7.7 million square feet of showroom space for home furnishings, gifts and apparel.
Next year's International Gifts and Home Furnishings Markets are scheduled for Jan. 8–16 and July 8–16.
