Showtime set for early December

High Point fabric show features social events, seminars

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 6, 2007

HIGH POINT — The International Textile Market Assn. will host its semiannual Showtime fabric market from noon on Sunday, Dec. 2, through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.

At Showtime, the mills, converters, tanneries, trimming manufacturers and design studios that are ITMA members present new lines to their primary customers, the home furnishings industry. More than 800 buying companies typically attend.

“ITMA members represent the global textile industry, and Showtime traditionally offers the best variety in the Western Hemisphere,” said ITMA Director Catherine Morsell. “Our newest members will be here showing their goods from as far away as India and Ireland.”

Design Options, a Los Angeles-based trend forecasting firm for the home and apparel markets, will present “The Eco-Logical Approach to Color and Trend for Spring/Summer 2009” at two sessions on Tuesday. To register, send an e-mail to design@design-options.com or call (231) 622-9094.

Industry expert Terry Allen will discuss “Designers and Special-Order Upholstery: How to Avoid Rude Surprises” on Wednesday at 9 a.m. To reserve a seat, contact (336) 885-6842 or itmashowtime@northstate.net.

The Studio at Showtime, introduced in December 2006, will return with more than a dozen textile design studios exhibiting original artwork and antique documents used for product development. The Studio will be open daily in the Suites at Market Square.
