Retailer, former Bassett rep Edwin M. Bailey dies at 87

GRANBURY, Texas — Edwin M. "Ed" Bailey, a furniture retailer and former sales representative for Bassett Furniture's upholstery division, died on June 30 after a brief illness. He was 87.

Bailey was one of the original Bassett upholstery reps covering the north Texas and Oklahoma territories. On his first year with Bassett in 1974 he won a Lincoln Continental, and in his second and third years won an overseas trip and stock in the company.

When he retired from Bassett in 1995, he and his wife, Virginia, expanded a store she had started in 1987, Lake Country Furniture in Granbury, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, four granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren.
