SUMIRAGO, Italy — Ottavio Missoni, the founder of an Italian fashion company, died Thursday at the family home. He was 92.
Missoni's signature zigzag fabric, originally created for sweaters that became a wardrobe staple in the upscale fashion category beginning in the 1950s, is the inspiration for a similar pattern created for upholstery fabric that is popular with furniture suppliers. The company expanded into a lifestyle brand in the late 1990s.
