Merrimac launching high-end line
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 2, 2007
High Point — Merrimac Textile, the piece goods division of fabric source Barrow Inds., is launching a line of high-end jacquards at Showtime here this week.
Target buyers for the lush chenilles and luxury damask constructions in the Premier Collection by Merrimac include high-end furniture manufacturers, decorative jobbers and fabric retailers.
"This new collection of higher-end product is meant to complement and round out our current product offering and ultimately give buyers a legitimate new resource at the upper end of the market," said Jeffrey Barrow, president.
"The capability of our China supply chain to weave intricate constructions with little to no limitations on yarn conditions presents a huge opportunity. When coupled with our immense design capabilities back home in the U.S., the advantage we can offer our customers is quite clear," Barrow said.
Barrow is one of the largest importers of U.S.-designed, Chinese-produced home furnishings fabrics. It owns a cut-and-sew facility in Hangzhou, China.
Merrimac exhibits on the ninth floor of the Market Square Textile Tower.
