Magnussen shifts managers

HIGH POINT - Case goods importer Magnussen Home has named Nathan Cressman president, a role previously held by Richard Magnussen.
Magnussen, who has been president and CEO for the past seven years, will remain CEO.
Cressman, who has been senior vice president of sales marketing and product development since 2009, will now be responsible for implementing the company's strategic plan and overseeing product development and sales and marketing management. He began his career with the company in 1997 as product development manager.
In a statement, Magnussen said this and other management changes will help support the company's growth.
"Magnussen Home plans to aggressively grow its business in volume and product categories over the next few years, and part of the plan to achieve this growth involves building and developing Magnussen's management team for the next level of business activity," he said.
The company has also named Kent MacFarlane chief financial officer. In addition to overseeing financial functions, he will also handle human resources for North America, administration and corporate governance. He joined the company in 2009 as vice president of finance and administration and before that had 17 years of experience at KPMG and companies in the technology industry.
Cressman and MacFarlane report to Magnussen.
The company also has announced management changes involving its Asia operations.
Chris Kleine has been named vice president of Asia operations, a new position that was previously handled by Russ Langford, who retired as chief operating officer in late 2012. Kleine, a 26-year company employee and most recently manager of product development and quality control, will be responsible for all Asian management, product development, quality control and administration.
He will be based in Vietnam, where Magnussen has an Asian distribution center in Ho Chi Minh City, and reports to Cressman.
The company also has hired Brian Beane as product development manager. Also based in Vietnam, he most recently owned and operated an upper middle/high end case goods resource called Furniture by Design.
Continuing in their current roles are Christina Sim, international logistics senior manager, and Mike Eichler, director of product demand and supply.
Sim manages Asian logistics operations, sales order processing, ocean freight management, compliance programs, corporate policies and processes. She also helps oversee IT systems for the Asian distribution center.
Eichler will have some added responsibilities, with responsibility for factory management and inventory management. He also will work with the sales team to ensure that the company is matching its shipments with sales forecasts, and will work with senior management.
Beane, Sim and Eichler report to Kleine.
